Program Description
The Nursing Assistant program is designed for students to receive their certification by completing coursework in classroom and clinical settings.
Career Opportunities
Upon program completion, the student will become eligible to be certified and licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and will be able to obtain employment in the healthcare field as a CNA.

Immunizations
- Hepatitis B (proof of three-dose vaccination or proof of immunity by titer). * Student may start the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program with proof of first dose of Hepatitis B vaccination.
- MMR (proof of two-dose vaccination or proof of immunity by titer)
- 2-step PPD or QuantiFERON (annually) requires two separate Tuberculin skin tests with negative results or a QuantiFERON blood test with a negative result. If a positive result is given, proof of a current chest x-ray with a negative result must be provided. Must obtain a physician’s letter verifying negative chest x-ray or that prescribed medical treatment is complete.
- Varicella (Chickenpox) - (proof of two-dose vaccination or proof of immunity by titer). A letter from the physician stating childhood exposure will not be accepted.
- TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) given within the past ten years
- Influenza (given October 1 - March 31) – required yearly. If the student is not attending class or clinical during those dates, they will not be required to have a current flu shot.
- Covid-19 Immunization – Optional. Proof of completed vaccination must be provided to attend clinicals at sites that require Covid-19 Immunization.

Our clinical partners must approve immunization exceptions before starting the program. If you are applying for an exception, please inform your advisor.
Students must be at least 16 years of age to be admitted to the program.
Specialized Accreditation
Our program is accredited through the Utah Nurse Assistant Registry.
