Program Description
The Electrical Apprenticeship program provides a solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), its layout, the requirements for different electrical systems, and the components of those systems. This program discusses the risks involved with electricity and electrical systems as well as the safety equipment and measures that are in place to protect electricians and the general public alike.

Career Opportunities
Apprenticeship students are expected to be employed while participating in related training course work.

Gainful Employment
Students enrolled in the Electrician Apprenticeship Program are gainfully employed and sponsored into the Apprenticeship Program. They are registered with the Department of Labor by their employer. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to sit for their Journeyman Electrician License.

Transfer/Articulation Information
The USHE alignment is set up for all students at any USHE Applied Technology College to transfer seamlessly within any other USHE Applied Technology College. These institutions include Bridgerland, Davis, Utah Tech University, Mountainland, Ogden-Weber, Tooele, Uintah Basin, and USU-Eastern.

Students who earn an AAS degree in Apprenticeship Electrician Independent Technology have the option to transfer into the Technology Management Bachelor Degree at Utah Valley University. Program Entry Requirements
All entering students must demonstrate competence for placement into MATH 1010  by scoring 40 or higher on the algebra portion of the mathematics College Placement Test, or proper CASAS Placement Test, or provide a transcript showing a grade of C or higher in MATH 0980 or equivalent, or complete ELI 1470  (Math for the Trades) with a grade of C or higher.
