Program Description: The Education Program is a two-year program designed to prepare students to transfer to an accredited four-year teaching program. Students completing the program will develop skills and receive the hands-on experience necessary to be accepted into the professional core of courses offered at the university level.

Specific requirements leading to a bachelor’s degree in education differ among the four-year higher education institutions. To tailor a program specific to student needs, meet with the Education Academic Advisor prior to registering for courses.

SECONDARY EDUCATION
Not all teaching majors are offered at all USHE schools. Meet with the Education Academic Advisor for the specific transfer information about the major(s), minor(s) at the school to which you plan to transfer. Most colleges and universities require EDU 1010 . Efficient transfer planning is essential.

Transfer/Articulation Information: Students should select electives based on the institution to which they intend to transfer. Electives beyond those listed below may be selected with approval from faculty or advisor. Students should consult with the Education Academic Advisor to ensure that the correct classes are taken for transferability to their school of choice. Guidelines for transfer are listed below and are subject to change. Students are also advised to contact the Education Advisor at the school(s) to which they intend to transfer.

Estimated Cost for Students: Estimated cost of books and supplies per semester $350 to $450

Estimated Time to Completion: If students follow the suggested sample schedule, completion time is four semesters

3a. Use and interpret information represented as data, graphs, and tables to analyze relevant information for working with students in a classroom setting.
3b. Interpret various mathematical concepts as they pertain to assessing learning.

4a. Construct a personal philosophy of education.
4b. Systematically complete reflective assignments demonstrating analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
4 - Think Critically
5a. Successfully complete service learning and field experience in predetermined local elementary and secondary schools. Dialogue with seasoned professionals in the field to enhance theoretical perspectives. 5 - Civic Engagement and/or Working Professionally

MATH 1050  is a pre-requisite for MATH 4010 at the U of U and must be less than two years old. Meet with the Education Academic Advisor for further information.
