ENGL 1100 - Diversity in Popular US Literature (HU, DV) Credits: 3 Popular American Literature has been used to preserve cultural values, reinforce imbalances of power along the lines of race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. It has also been used to subvert stereotypical and damaging tropes about race, class, gender, sexuality and disability. This course examines U.S. popular literature as sites of cultural struggle and erased or contested history.
